They’re all over Pinterest and Instagram. Swoonworthy detail images that showcase the little details of a bride’s day. But how do you get those?
As a wedding photographer, nothing makes me happier than showing up on a wedding day with thoughtfully curated details to capture. Here are a few tips to get your own Instagram-worthy detail shots from your big day.
- Save a full invitation suite. This makes such a huge difference in your detail images. An heirloom quality invitation suite photographs so beautifully! But what if letterpress or calligraphed invites aren’t within your budget? That’s ok! Many stationers will create a one-off suite for keepsake purposes.
2. Bring some family heirlooms. This can be jewelry, watches, family Bibles, handwritten notes, old ring boxes, etc. Anything that’s been passed down will add a personal and meaningful element to your images.
3. Invest in a wedding day perfume. I love this detail for many reasons. Obviously, it adds to your images. But it also serves as a signature scent of the day. On future anniversaries or date nights, wear this to bring you back to all the emotions of the wedding day.
4. Allow time for styling. Styling details takes a long time. I typically arrive an hour early just for detail images. Creativity can’t happen in a stressed or rushed environment, so allow your photographer time to style and capture all these little details that make up your day.
