As many of you may know, Miguel and I have been expecting a little bundle of fun. Well, he’s made his appearance! Christian Charles Perez busted out of his super warm and cozy baby building swimming pool on August 27th (8 days early!). Maybe it was the lack of space that made him want to evict, or maybe it was all the labor inducing exercises Mommy was doing to speed this process along… Either way, after an 18 hour labor, he arrived at 10:13 pm, just 2 hours shy of Daddy’s birthday!
Adjusting to baby life has been super rewarding, even if it is incredibly exhausting. He’s so expressive already and, even at 3am when I’m falling asleep feeding him, his little smile makes me realize how totally worth it this all is. I’m so lucky to have an amazing husband who will take Christian out of my arms if I’m feeling overwhelmed and force me to sleep for a few hours while he handles feeding and diaper duty. Christian could not have chosen a better father. I can’t wait for all the father-son hunting trips and mutual screaming at the TV during football season.
Having him finally here is kind of a bittersweet feeling. I really loved being pregnant (except for those tough last couple of weeks), and feeling him move was the highlight of my day. Though I spent most of my time worrying about everything I put in my body for 39 weeks, now I spend most of my time counting poopy diapers and watching him to make sure he’s still breathing (we did purchase the Owlet Monitor though, so that has been huge for my sanity). Now that I can actually see him with my own eyes, it’s a strange thing to think that this little nugget was the same kickboxer who’s been inhabiting my womb for the last 9 months. I can’t wait to share more stories and pictures of him as time goes on. He’s already keeping us entertained with his funny faces and little boy sprinkler system (yup, we’re already up to 3 diaper changing peepee fountains).
